Vintage Draft
Helpful tips to drafting old school mystery packs
Guide
How do drafts work?
Each player brings 3 packs, opens one, picks a card, then passes clockwise until all cards are picked. Remember, you’re drafting a deck, not cards. You’re balancing power + synergy + curve. Keep an eye out for Bombs (game-winning cards), Premium removal, Efficient creatures, Synergy pieces, and Fixing / filler.
How many players?
Drafts can be done with 2, 4, or 8 players playing matches best of 2 out of 3. Always remember, this is your draft, you make the rules.
What decks do players build?
Players build 40-card decks, usually with 17 lands taken from a shared community pool.
Any special card rules?
Vintage cards have no planeswalkers, double-faced cards, or sagas. Keeping gameplay straightforward and focus on combat.
Which creatures are strong?
Flying creatures like Serra Angel and Mahamoti Djinn are among the top threats.
